First off, a very interesting article and a very LOOOONG, article! I know for a long time I couldn't understand why I deserved grace or salvation, and even though I accepted Yahushua as my savior and confess my sins, repented and asked for forgiveness, I still felt unworthy of the gift of eternal life in heaven. And Satan used it to steal the joy, peace and rest that comes from His love and grace, when we accept our Messiah. Satan had a lot of help, as many pastors teach obedience to the Law, and that grace is a balancing act on a razor's edge, and that our heavenly Father sit in wait, ready to snatch away our salvation, to resend His grace and mercy at the first misstep we make! We are sinners saved by grace, instead of saints who some times sin, according to most pastors, which the first isn't scripturally back, where the later is! When I think of all the worry, dread and even tears, I have suffered at the hands of these false teachers, it really makes me anger! Do we deserve salvation or the gift given us by the sacrifice of Yahushua Hammashiach, of course we don't. For our sins we deserve death, but for the love of our Father, we have be given the chance to have our sins atoned for, by the only man ever to walk this earth who didn't deserve death, and in fact is the Son of the great I AM! The Father is just and fair, and a payment for sin must be paid for in blood, as was set down in the beginning. Thus the Father, Son and Holy Spirit suffered the life, torture, breaking of the Holy Trinity ( for 3 hours) and death of the Son, so that man whom they love so much, might have adequate payment for their sins, and that which was lost in the garden might be reconciled, so that we might return to the place our Father had intended for us, in the beginning. He made us higher than the angels, which is hard for many of us to grasp, for we came into this world in the condemn flesh, and the world seeks to re-enforce the fact that we are worthless and keep us in bondage to sin! So is it any wonder that the followers of Yahushua would have a self-esteem/worth problem?
Anyway, Mr. Piper you made a boo-boo... a slip of the tongue; "For those who do not take refuge in the cross of Christ there will be only wrath and fury in the end. For them the last word of the law of recompense is Hell." Hell isn't the recompense for the unredeemed, but rather the Lake of Fire is. Hell is merely the holding cell for those who have died in unredeemed state, until the Great White Throne of Judgment, where they will receive their new bodies and then cast into the Lake of Fire with the Anti-Christ, False Prophet, Satan and all the fallen angels who weren't involved in the mating with women to try and corrupt the bloodline to prevent the Messiah's birth.
I did enjoy the article though! Mark
