Re: Sorting Out God’s Goodness in the Middle of the Pain
Posted On: 09/12/07 09:13:45 AM Age 46, TX
God is good despite the evil and suffering in the world, and this is one of the beliefs that is only found in the Judeo-Christian worldview. I know this first-hand because, at the age of 35, I was diagnosed with a "100% terminal disease" called Lou Gehrig's (ALS). To others this seems unfair because I was "a good person," a faithful husband and dad, devoted Christian, deacon, Sunday school teacher, non-smoking and non-drinker... But, now I'm totally paralyzed. How can I believe that God is good? Because His Spirit dwells in me and He has demonstrated His goodness more times and in more ways than I could list here. Eternity and the final end to all evil and suffering must be the Christians primary hope if we want to understand God's goodness. If this world and this body are our hope, we'll never experience true joy and peace and we'll never view God as good.
