A. W. TOZER WAS A MYSTIC

Hearts that are "fit to break" with love for the Godhead are those who have been in the Presence and have looked with opened eye upon the majesty of Deity. Men of the breaking hearts had a quality about them not known to or understood by common men. They habitually spoke with spiritual authority. They had been in the Presence of God and they reported what they saw there. They were prophets, not scribes: for the scribe tells us what he has read, and the prophet tells us what he has seen. The distinction is not an imaginary one. Between the scribe who has read and the prophet who has seen, there is a difference as wide as the sea. We are today overrun with orthodox scribes; but the prophets, where are they? The hard voice of the scribe sounds over evangelicalism, but the Church waits for the tender voice of the saint who has penetrated the veil and has gazed with inward eye upon the Wonder that is God. ... WHO IS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
Posted On: 06/07/07 08:11:34 AM Age 63, OH
Thanks so much for your kind reply. It is such an encouragement to see that there are others who see that the church of this nation is walking in such idolatry. The Bible is titled 'The BOOK" and is beyond compare as a book. Not one jot or tittle will pass away from it. But it is still an it not a Him. Nothing can compare to The Lord of Glory. He is the Creator of everything that exists or ever will exist. The question of life and of the universe IS who is JESUS CHRIST. If anyone gets this question right and follows Him they are given a pass to eternal life. If any man gets this question wrong, better for Him that He was never born. The 1st thing that the Devil will try to get a man to do is demote The Lord Jesus Christ in some way or form. This is the sign of all the cults. The Mormons, Jehovah Witness, Seventh Day, Christian Science all demote The Lord Jesus from God Almighty to something less. The reason the Devil tries so hard to get all men to do this is that the Name of The Lord Jesus Christ is the ONLY NAME WHICH MAN CAN BE SAVED. The church wants to call the Bible "The Word of God" because they feel that gives their preaching or testimony more authority. But this is idolatry for the Bible is NOT THE word of GOD. It is calling part of the creation the Creator. This is the same error that Egypt made when they worshiped the sun. The sun can not save and the Bible can not save. The Word in the Greek is Logos, which means THE DIVINE EXPRESSION. It simply means That God is expressed in Christ or Jesus is God Almighty brought forth so that that we can see and understand God Almighty. Isaiah 9:6 says The Lord Jesus is God Almighty and The Everlasting Father. The Bible is NOT the Word, but the Bible tells us that Jesus is The Word. A man who was trying to be helpful to me the other day told me that Jesus was the word that flowed from the mouth of God. That is DEMOTING THE Lord Jesus to part of the creation. For we all create speech when we talk. The Lord Jesus is not created for NOTHING is created that HE did not create. He is NOT the words that flow from the mouth of God but He is God. Lou

"Some of my friends good-humoredly-and some a little bit severlely-have called me a 'mystic.' Well I'd like to say this about any mysticism I may suppose to have. If an arch-angel from heaven were to come, and were to start giving me, telling me, teaching me, and giving me instruction, I'd ask him for the text. I'd say, 'Where's it say that in the Bible? I want to know.' And I would insist that it was according to the scriptures, because I do not believe in any extra-scriptural teachings, nor any anti-scriptural teachings, or any sub-scriptural teachings. I think we ought to put the emphasis where God puts it, and continue to put it there, and to expound the scriptures, and stay by the scriptures. I wouldn't-no matter if I saw a light above the light of the sun, I'd keep my mouth shut about it 'til I'd checked with Daniel and Revelation and the rest of the scriptures to see if it had any basis in truth. And if it didn't, I'd think I'd just eaten something I shouldn't, and I wouldn't say anything about it. Because I don't believe in anything that is unscriptural or that is anti-scripture."-WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT MAKE?, A.W. TOZER

"I am in communion with Him, while I am studying the Bible, and that is why I read it" Well said. he point is the Scripture is for reproof, training, encouragement, but is not The Word. The scripture speaks of the Word and points us to Him. And His Spirit is Him in us when we are born anew in Him. Part two is coming...

Dear Patrick; We can either trust Jesus or we can not. If Jesus is the First and the Last and the Creator of the universe, He seems more trustworthy to me then all the men put together. Jesus and one other man are a majority. It does not matter how immature a Christian is, for how did any man find Christ before he was a Christian, but by trusting in The Lord Jesus Christ. I did not meet God in a church, and did not know His Name. But I simply called out to my Creator and He saved me and filled me with His Holy Spirit. Every step has been the same as the first step, I have to trust in my Creator who is Jesus Christ. He is the One who shed His blood for me, not a Book. I spend sometimes 12 hours a day in the Book, but I am in communion with Him, while I am studying the Bible, and that is why I read it. It is a place where I meet Him, and we talk together. Paul tells us in Galatians that we can not trust in Christ and anything else or Christ can not save us. If I would trust in the Bible and Christ, then it would seem to me that Jesus could not save me. Jesus said to judge by the fruit. What is the fruit of the church in this nation. The church has lost it position of leadership to science and the government. This is the same thing that happened in Israel when Jesus came to them. The pharisees made the same mistake as these people seem to be making. The pharisees trusted in the scriptures instead of the Living God. Jesus corrected them when He said, John 5:39 "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me," They should have been looking to the Spirit of Jesus when they read the scriptures and then they would have recognized the Lord Of glory when He became a man. The Author of the Book is much superior to the book. Lou
