Thank you for the article concerning internet pornography. I "caught" my husband doing internet porn about a year ago and came to the knowledge that he had been doing it over 10 years. It devastated me because he displayed this great christian "look" in front of others. He seemed to be the perfect christian. He had me fooled. He tried to overcome it many times but it just kept pulling him back. After the discovery, he has shown total remorse and repentance and has done well for about a year. But recently was tempted and I discovered it again. He has an accountable partner and we have set up rules for computer use in office and home and placed blockage on computers. He wants to be free from this powerful sin. God has helped him and I sure want to help and protect him too. We have since then discovered our son (teen) getting into porn also. He has broken my heart but we as a family are going to break this generational curse from continuing with God's help. Thank you for all your organization does for our world.

I believe one of the biggest hindrances to men and women recovering from these addictions is that society has already labeled them as "perverts" so they do not feel they can be honest and ask for help. How many people would feel comfortable at church going up to someone and sharing they have this addiction and asking for help. Our churches have become places where we put on happy faces, act like everything is ok, and hide our sin because we know we will be judged and told we are going to hell. How many pastors have the ability to go to someone and say I am struggling with sin (all of us are sinners). They fear instant rejection because they are held to such a high standard, no one would ever allow them to be real and deal with these issues. Too many people want to judge and condemn vs. bear each other's burdens and restore. If the church was truly a hospital for sinners instead of a place where you feel you have to show you have it all together, many people would feel they could be honest about their struggles. Many people hooked on porn have been molested themselves or exposed to these things at a young age. This is an excuse for sin, but once a wounded person acts out, they are immediately labeled and shamed. I also know that many times those that speak out the loudest and judge the most struggle with the same sins and this is a coping mechanism. I challenge the church to step up and pour out the love of Jesus and let the church be a place of ministry and where the power of God and blood of Jesus can change lives, not bring shame.

I have had and am having battles with pornography. I have found 2 resources that have helped alot. There is a group seeking to place all so called adult content on a separate port so that parents and others could limit access to pruient material. Web site: cp80.org. Also another resource for those struggling with or have family members involved with pornography is Shelley Lubben. Her web site is Shelleylubben.com. She is a former porn star who has been radically transformed into an incredible champion in this battle. Her testimony and the resources she has have been very helpful. Don't give up!! Rev. 12:11

According to Romans 1 especailly 18 and 31 sexual addiction is a allready the result of a judgment. You have people rejecting God and God then rejecting them. The sermon on the mount solution will sove anything. Removing people form the temptation of sin or the abilility to sin does not make them a non sinner. How about we preach the power of God to change lives. How about we teach Romans chapter 6,7,& 8. I know they are difficult and most christians get excited about judgment more than mercy. But Get excited about Christ and his power and let him deal with sin.

The 'radical' solution of removal of all Internet access is simplistic and not at all effective. I did just that to my husband. He has no internet access at all at home. None at work. He remains unrepentant, a slave to porn and self-gratification. And continues to call himself a Christian. The removal of the internet didn't stop or slow down his lust. There are an endless number of 'gentlemen's clubs' and adult bookstores within blocks of wherever we live. My husband continues to live in an adulterous fantasy world full of thousands of women. The problem isn't the internet's temptations. The internet is only the latest delivery system of the hi-demand market that's been with us for thousands of years. The true souce of the problem is the condition of the deceived human heart.

When it comes to Internet porn ... I must speak out. Suggesting that the solution to porn addiction is that the Web should be 'cut out of peoples lives' for the most part, is unrealistic. Instead, to make real changes in this behavior, our society must begin to view sexual perversion, - porn - as a serious crime, and then institute severe enough consequences to deter that crime. Porn teaches boys to lose respect for women. It teaches them to be users. And the natural evolution of this behavior is men becoming Sex addicts, rapists, and some -- even child molesters. The result of this addiction is a society of men without conscience, and no real fear of punishment. They know that little will be done to them, due to a permissive Court System, so they think that their perverted pleasure is worth the risk. True Story: I was sexually assaulted by a Police Officer, when I was 22. This took place mid-day, in the "conservative" state of Indiana. After this Officer pulled me over, he reached into my car, and grabbed my breast. When I recoiled and pushed his hand off of me (and looked shocked and outraged, at him) he said "If you don't like what I just did -- too bad. I know where you live and I can have this car towed away, if I want to. So don't give me any trouble." This officer was obviously a predator; he had no respect of women, likely due to a porn addiction. At that point, I knew that I had to submit to him, (after all, he had a gun) I knew that reporting that horrible incident would have been foolish. It was His word against mine. Furthermore, I have been stalked and / or raped, by several other predators, in my life. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time and being too trusting, has it's consequences. One predator was my landlord, a "family man" who (I later found out) had molested his own daughter, years prior. He was also likely a porn addict, with no respect for women or fear of consequences. One major problem behind all this, is that we have a Court System which allows sex offenders to get a 'slap on the wrist'. Instead, their punishment should fit the crime, and be severe enough to STOP the offender from taking the risk, in the first place. Until we have a truly effective deterrent to sexual crimes, they will continue. The consequence of their acts (which destroy innocent women and children's lives) should be castration. This could be the meaning of the words "cutting off the part of the body which offends you". The fact is: It WOULD be better to go to heaven maimed, than cast into hell 'intact', and castration would certainly be a deterrent to other would-be sex offenders. The truth is, if porn-producers and sex offenders, would actually know that castration could be the potential consequence for their crimes, there would be far fewer men choosing to take the risk of these immoral acts, in the first place. The Punishment DOES Need to Fit the Crime! Have we ever actually considered that our Nation will be punished, by God, for spreading this fatal disease of the soul, around the world? And will all people reap what we sow as well, for looking the other way, (many, with a wink and a nod) for not doing enough to stop this evil destruction, of our Society? "All it takes for evil to reign, is for good men to do nothing." is so very true. I believe that our country is rapidly being destroyed, from within. Men's collective conscience is likely not going to return to having the desire to do what is right, until they begin to actually fear God -- or at least Justice -- so that they will lose the desire to be sexually perverted and voyeuristic. The alternative is, we can continue to feed this disease, as it quietly devours us. We are all victims, one way or another, sooner or later. My final question is: Will we wake up in time, and effectively stop this before it is too late ... or not. I sincerely hope so.

Since falling in love with Jesus 2 1/2 years ago, after being a Christian for 35 years, God has delivered me from my attraction to internet pornography. I choose to reject all sexual thoughts and actions due to my new found desire to know God and experience His presence in my life. I used to try to stop viewing pornography for fear of being exposed etc. However, after spending much time in daily prayer and Bible reading, God has taken away my desire to view pornography. I don't want pornography or anything else to hinder the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. What does it profit a man (christian) to view pornography and lose his ability to have Gods fulness in his life. Thanks for your informative article exposing the extent of this problem and the call to overcome this sin at any cost.
