Amen, Todd. You cannot be apostate, i.e., fall away unless you previously held to the teaching - which is why the "elect" may even be deceived. The false prophet(s) is not going to arise from OUTSIDE the church but from within and is, in fact, already quite pervasive. But Jesus also told us that He is the One who will separate the wheat from the chaff, etc.Nevertheless, because the Body of Christ is so not reading the Word, it should come as no surprise that people think that "secular progressives" are the enemy. Secular Progressives are the mission field; it's those who claim to know Christ but are sadly ignorant of the Bible that are allowing the enemy to deceive them into believing the vast array of false prophets that are among us.

Thanks for your wonderful article. Relying too heavily on books written by men is not advisable. Thank you also for all your links to info on Rick Warren. As a former member of a wonderful church that went Purpose Driven, I know how dangerous Rick and this movement are. Thank you for exposing his heresies to the world.

Thank you for your response. The word "apostate" by nature deals with a person who has left what they once believed. "...some shall depart from the faith..." (1 Tim. 4:1-2) A moslem cannot leave the Christian faith because he was never born again in the first place....neither can a democrat leave the Christian faith if he is not first saved. (And if he gets saved he will denounce the democratic (liberal as you put it) party.) Ready or not - Jesus is coming. www.SafeGuardYourSoul.com

Over the last few months God has brought me to this same point over and over. All I hear from many different outlets is believe in Christ and you will be saved. Well even the devil knows that Jesus is real and what he can do. Isn't that a form of beleif? But, the devil will never REPENT of his sins. As a youth leader I know I am resposible to God for what I teach his 20 youth in my group. I will honor God by teaching them they must repent, ie. admit you are a sinner, know that Jesus Christ is the only one who can and will forgive the sin, ask Him to forgive you, believe that He has done it, go foward a changed person in Christ and share his love so that another may be changed.
Thank you Todd for this article and for your stand for what is right.

You made reference to 2 Timothy in your article, in justifying marking those you consider apostate. Here are some more verses for you - "...the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And [that] they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." 2 Tim. 2:24-26 The true apostates you should worry about are secular liberals that continue to push their agenda in our society, people that say Mohammed is the last prophet of God, and anyone that denies Jesus is the Christ, and Him crucified.
