Is it possible that in your search to eliminate all the "false-teachers" in America today that you've completely lost the essence of Jesus? Can you point me to leaders that more effectively live out the call of Jesus than McManus and Bell and other such pastors? Now, I do consider much of the "Emergent" Church as dangerous, sometimes doing away with much of the essential doctrines of our faith, such as substitutionary atonement, but just because a church is "Emerging" doesn't necessarily make it inherently wrong. While still remaining true to the essential orthodox beliefs of the Christian faith, they are simply doing things differently. Things that are necessarily addressed specifically. Is it possible that much of this argument is about slightly bitter preference than about what is inherently true. Where does the bible conclude that subjective spirituality is wrong? It doesn't. It's not addressed specifically. We must remember to draw the line between what is RIGHT and what is merely preferential. God bless.

Ken Silva has an excellent article, and I thank him for mentioning the false teaching of Word-Faith. I also thank him for naming names of false teachers, just as the Apostle Paul did. Ken Silva is right Peale, Osteen, and Schuller. Other false teachers include Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Paul and Jan Crouch, Robert Tilton, Creflo Dollar, John Avanzini, Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne, Fred Price, the late Kenneth Hagin, and Oneness Pentecostals such as T.D. Jakes.

Hey friend! I think what Mr Silva is saying is that the theology and aspects of mystcism and contemplative spirituality that Erwin McManus is a part of, along with many others in the emergent church, is a "heavily Gnostic and twisted Arminianism", meaning that the Gnostic ideas are prevalent and a deviant form of Arminianism has been propagated. This form of Arminianism probably would no longer be accurately called Arminianism, rather just a "twisted" version of it. Mr Silva hasn't equated the Gnosticism with Arminianism when looking at the context of his article. However the "twisted Arminianism" is probably referring to a further twist on the Sovereignty of God, since this is all mixed with the "human potential", "positive energy" new agey gobly-goop. Could be wrong. :)

One question I've always had fun asking people like these: How positive was Jesus?
Not very. Between whipping the merchants out of the temple, paying sizzling insults to the scribes and Pharisees, "Get thee behind me, Satan," and "The world will hate you because of Me," I think He'd be referred to as one of the most negative people ever--IF any of these Emergent types read a REAL Bible. (And what was that stuff about a "rod of iron" and "dashing them in pieces like a potter's vessel"? Not very nice, that.)
I'm just glad He loves us. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of His discontent.

Are you referring to Arminianism as the same as Gnosticism? What do they have to do with eachother? What is your point with this statement in the article?
