Re: Cultural Warriors Cant Give Up

I understand the well-meaning urge to "change the culture" but I have some serious reservations regarding that approach. It's a bit like putting the "cart before the horse" isn't it? I think that Christians have allowed themselves to become distracted by peripheral issues. When I read the NT I don't see anywhere in it, a mandate from Jesus or the Apostles to "change the culture" as the focus of our Christian life. What are we trying to save when we engage that focus anyway? Our way of life on earth? If Jesus never attempted to change his culture (which many of his followers wanted him to do), but came to save lost souls for his eternal kingdom, then why are we focused on saving our culture? A cultural change is a byproduct of individuals who are genuinely saved by repenting of their sin and receiving God's mercy and grace by faith in Jesus who paid the penalty of sin. I believe the culture war is a distraction from our God-given mandate to go and make disciples and will never achieve what Jesus sent us to do....save the lost.
