North America and Western Europe would soon abolish slavery thanks to Christianity. When did Islamic nations abolish slavery?

Thank you David Barton for giving us a historical perspective of this. I greatly appreciate it. I would say that Mpls. (in many ways) is definitely shoving Christianity out of the public square and I also would say that Ellison did present himself better. This was well done and I think it is helpful for us to understand what's happening in America today. God Bless and have a great day!!

That was an excellent, well researched article. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much to assauge the concerns of having a muslim in Congress. The constitution is not our guide as the perfect document (Holy Writ), and obviously neither were the men pefect, that wrote it. The desire for Christian freedom by the early pilgrims, being largely set aside for a more universalist or worldly doctrine... life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Not having the will, or the foresight to be more exclusively Christian. The fear of the musselmen was a long ship's sail away in those days.
Let's look at some scripture here - "For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he [who was] of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman [was] by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, [thou] barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him [that was born] after the Spirit, even so [it is] now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 4:22-5:1

You refer to the Muslims as terrorists because they held Christians as slaves. You fail to mention that during the time period that this is taking place (early 1800's) the U.S. also was heavily involved in the slave trade. So why don't you call a spade a spade (No pun intended) and identify the Americans as terrorists as well.
