Thank you Coach Daubenmire. I am not a sports fan but I do belong to a multiheritage family. My husband is of African American heritage. Our children are of many heritages (birth, adopted). I am now for five years a biblical Christian due in large part to my husband's Christian Walk. A year ago I wrote a letter to our church, predominantly African American, with similar information. One of the reasons was the Planned Parenthood Organization offered us their parking lot for Sunday church services. I felt that it was totally wrong as did my husband for us to use it. I continue to advocate as does my husband. I was talked into an abortion at a young age. I knew then it was murder, but some people made it sound so OK (By the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I am forgiven). Now we have medical technology that shows us it is life within a woman and it only grows into a human. We have more and more scientist refuting the theory of evolution and the belief that fetuses are not "really humans" and expendable (see answersingenesis.com, michaelbehe.com). Now the argument seems to have turned toward the narcistic belief that we can have recreational sex (sex without the context of the intimate relationship of marriage) and have no responsibility for the consequences (a young life). We can kill this young life even at full term.
I continue to tell the young women I work with that abstinence is the only way to go. And God did not tell us this to zap us but because it is the best way for us to live our lives and to find a lasting relationship with another human of the opposite sex that is emotionally, spiritually and physically intimate. Thank you for your stand.

While I do have a list of complaints to Pres. Bush, I do not believe that he isn't pro-life. His power is limited and that is what primarily keeps him from being able to stop abortion outright. He did, when the GOP was in control, stop partial-birth abortion (make it illegal). He's also vetoed and continued to commit to vetoing embryonic stem cell research. But enough about Pres. Bush, here's one major statistic that should drive everyone ballistic (I don't think the coach brought this one up) I don't remember who did this, but a recent survey (if I find it, I'll post it) indicated that the African-American population growth in the USA is at 0. They reproducing as fast as they are dying, and violence, AIDS, etc. play only a small part of it. Primary cause: Abortion. They are dying out and that is not good at all. Anyway, have a great day and continue to think, pray, and even take action about this.

Gee, Coach. You really need to stop sugar coating what you say. Just say what you think, okay?
Great article, and I could not agree more.

Wonderful article. I will be interested to see the responses. Will it take a Q-tip or an ear plunger to open up the ears of those who call themselves Christians these days. It has always amazed me that most Christian Blacks seem to be Democratic. It seems to me to be about money and what is in it for "me". Sort of the same thing as those who think we should not spend "all that money oversees" but we should rather stay home and take care of ourselves. People are so short-sited and selfish. It is more about themselves than others. And Politics can be a terrible thing. I wish it was not so.
