I agree with you about the way some Christians react to certain people and certain situations. Christ was without sin and was persecuted many times and even put to death just because of who He is and what He stood for. How can we who bear His likness not expect to be persecuted and mocked when we are not wihtout sin. Can we expect a non-believer to act as a believer? Many times we do and our response is anything but Christ-like. I expect Rosie to be just like she is. She can not Godly principals when she has never accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. For Ann Coulter, if she is claiming the name of Jesus then maybe she should realize that we are not to battle each other but to battle against sin. Love the sinner- hate the sin. We have to get past the sin to minister to the person. It is not in our timing but God's timing. We plant the seeds, someone else waters, and God brings in the Harvest. We have so many people that have a negative portrayal of Christians. Where did they get this portrayal from? Is it because we are imperfect people and yet we expect a non-believer to be perfect? Christ said," Be ye Holy as I am Holy." It is not our righteous that God sees, it is the blood of Christ that covers our sin and makes us clean. Remember we all had to be redeemed, there is non righteous, no not one. Let the world see Christ in us. If we are to be angry, be angry at sin. The battle has already been won- we are the victor's!
To God be the Glory! He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.

It is entirely possible to love as Christ loves. As a columnist in a small daily paper, I receive feedback from a variety of people from diverse backgrounds. One writer wrote a rather scathing letter some months back, accusing me of homophobia in some of my columns. Since I respond to all who comment, when they provide me with the ability to do so (many comments come anonymously), I responded carefully to this wounded young man, after much prayer. He responded to my response with utter surprise at its gentleness and respect. We simply do not have to bash people over the head with the truth. It is designed to be spoken gently and with love, and must be, or we are but clanging cymbals.

I agree 110%. The biggest problem in this world is Christians. Christians are the ones hijacking planes and flying them into buildings, sawing off heads with rusty steak knives while chanting Bible verses, and stabbing artists and journalists when they so much as describe or depict their ways. Christian parents truely are abusing their children by educating them on Creation, morality and salvation, and should definatly be forced to give up custody of their children to the state. It is the Christians who say that disabled people are a drag on evolution so they must be aborted or euthanized. And Scripture is hate speech plain and simple. I have a photo of English Muslims holding up signs saying "Be prapared for the REAL Holocaust!" Maybe that will cleanse the world of this horrible menace.

Thank you. Thank you so much for this fair and balanced, insightful essay. I have struggled in witnessing because so many people judge Jesus by what people like Ann Coulter say, and I am quite tired of it. I'm a conservative Republican (leaning libertarian), but I'm really tired of the way the GOP portrays itself as having one foot in heaven based on our political beliefs (which are now and then wrong). Both sides deserve criticism, and both sides deserve grace. Thanks.

You are so right! While I agree with Ms. Coulter on so many points, Christians by definition should be showing Christ to the world by our love and outreach.
Ms. Coulter is a vital spokesperson for the conservative cause and serves a crucial function in the overwhelming liberal media, but in a society that accuses Christians of hate, we must be very careful not to be found guilty of that vice! We can disagree, we can be assertive and politically active, but we must not stoop to name-calling and derision when making our points. We must be ever mindful that are witnesses for Christ in a world that needs him desperately.
