Ummm. Showbread is an outwordly christian band. Who cares if they wrote a song about a horror movie they like. Aren't christian supposed to accept everyone?

Showbread is AWESOME

Even though they might seem like they are just some crazy rockers saying that they are Christian, they really are. You can't take one song and say that is all Showbread is. If you listen to the CD "The Fear of God", they really get deep into their faith and beliefs in God. So, to you who wrote this, you have your facts wrong. You can't take one song and say that is what they are. Anyway, this song is about a movie, it's based on a real movie. So yeah, Showbread ROCKS :D

I really hope that the person that wrote this article has read these replies and checked out Showbread's lyrics again. The fact is, Showbread's lyrics are some of the most profounding and Christ-centered lyrics I have ever heard. If anyone wants examples, please check out the songs "Matthais replaces Judas" and "Age of Reptiles". Showbread's lyrics have changed my life. They really do convey the love of Christ. They paint a picture of a truly unloveable world, then show that Christ loves us anyway. I have never been so moved as I was by the power and passion behind these lyrics. I seriously encourage anyone who reads this article to not lash out at the person who wrote it. They simply had a lack of information, and I'm sure that they only had the best intentions.

Youth have this one right

Reading the responses to this article drew to my attention the age difference between the article writer and those who defend the band. As a father of three teenagers (18, 16, and 14) I have found that I must understand the world in which they live to have an impact in their lives and decision making. Often, parents hear "You just wouldn't understand" because they don't take the time to look into, i.e. research, what interests their children. I grew up in an age of explosive change in our country and in our churches. That is what every generation experiences in the church. Churches (institutions) by their very nature do not like to change...everything must be as it always was. Maybe we should listen to the heart of Jesus and to the words of the man He chose to be one of his greatest apostles...Paul. Paul says (and I paraphrase) that to reach people, he became "one of them." To the Romans, he was Roman; to the Jews, a Jew; to the Gentile, a Gentile. In fact, when he went to Ephesus he made sure that he studied the people and their ways so that he could discourse with them without offending them! Showbread is a good band...very Christian young men who have a heart to reach out to today's youth in ways that the youth understand. Today's youth do not want to hear Handel's Messiah or attend a ritualistic service. They desire open and honest conversation about God! They have seen the underside of our world and our country and cannot be misled that, in becoming a Christian, all things will be great. So, in this case, the youth who posted before me have it right! Do more research before you condemn these young men. The Word of God never changes but the way we package it may have to...if that were not so, we'd all still be Catholic and not divided into a number of denominations, fellowships, and non-denominational churches. Sorry for the length!

really?

is this real? christians have forever been hypocritical. i know that and i accept that. the body of christ has never been perfect by any chance. what happened to not judging though? my god does not condemn showbread or any other band like them. they like horror movies. big deal. david cheated on his wife and yet people look up to him. showbread has never advocated violence or death, they merely wanted to make a song about a horror film. listen to their newest album all the way through. the point of that album is to show the process of salvation. yes, it goes through dark places. at least they are honest about it. even christians struggle with addiction, sex, drugs, lies, stealing, everything. they are just a little more openminded about it. it is things like this article that makes christians look like stuckup snobs that are so holier-than-thou they can't see their own mistakes. this article is a great example of christians making the same mistake that the pharisees made with jesus.

This whole article is honestly a load of garbage and needs to be trashed. Nothing here is valid. I personally know the guys in Showbread, and I can honestly say they are more genuine and passionate about their faith then most other Christian bands there are. They like to have fun, and include some of their favorite things in their music. But when some closeminded person will only look at that side, it kind of gets a little irritating. The way they dress shouldnt have anything to do with this argument, God looks on the inside not the outside. If people were a little more open minded, and didnt just look at the things that appear to be bad, we wouldnt have so much dispute in a "religion" that is about unity and love.

Someone needs to get their facts straight.

One song by this band does not make them satanic. Showbread is very obviously a Christian band. Some songs just don't shot it as well as others. This song was used to pay tribute to something that the band menbers fell in love with, i.e. the Evil Dead movies. But just to say that they are "satanic" because they fell in love with something that isn't even real is wrong in so many ways. They have written many songs and 2 ENTIRE ALBUMS to show the love of their lord and savior Jesus Christ in different ways and to show it never ends. Josh Dies has incredible messages that should be heard by more people. He is an incredible preacher of the Word of God. Although this song is quite violent and gory, it is nothing more than a tribute. Christ still comes first in their hearts, not death and gore.

showbread is christian

taking one showbread song and saying that they're evil is liking taking one person who says there christian but looks at porn and sayign that we all look at porn. its no different. If you open your mind and ears to their songs, you see that christ is in them. I think that bands that love god so much they scream for him are better than bands who dont even know that guitars can be electric. anyway thats my two cents.

Are you serious?

When someone who is not familiar with a certain topic or issue makes a statement, it cannot be accepted with much credibility. Musical styles and genres will differ culturally. If one were to play true Biblical music, pianos, organs, and the operatic voices of the elder members of local churches would not even fit in. Obviously the message of Showbread and other bands of the like is nothing but Christ. I think that Ingrid was mistaken when it comes to Showbread's message. She took one song, one video that was posted by a fan, and one angry comment from a parent and ran with it. Now their style may not be your fave, but unless you are singing in Greek or Hebrew, and playing the lyre or blowing the shofar, then your musical style would not be "Biblical" either. Obviously that argument is flawed. We are to take the timeless truths from scripture, not the timebound, cultural references. Love God, Love people.

I just want to point out that of the facts are not being presented. My opinion is biased but i will try to present it in a factual and objective way. If you look at the lyrics of the song that you are criticizing you should also look at the intent behind the song. The members of the band Showbread are Zombie movie enthusiasts. The video for this song contains clips of the movie "Evil Dead 2", because that is what the song is based off of. This song is just a song that the band wrote for fun. i am not trying to discredit anyones opinion I am just trying to convince you to look at all of the facts before you make assumptions. If one looks at some of the band's other songs such as "Stabbing Art to Death", which dives into giving up sins of the flesh and following a simple life in Christ. Also there are songs like "Matthias replaces Judas", which illustrates very vividly how we have all sinned and must deal with our transgressions and give the Lord all that we have. because that is still not worthy enough. in conclusion i find that this article lacks the factual basis required to make assumptions. i believe that there should be no controversy.
