Rick Warren to Speak at Islamic Society Convention

It shouldn't shock us but this Sunday (June 21) the Indianapolis Star will run a feature story reporting that Rick Warren (author of The Purpose Driven Life and Pastor of Saddleback Church in southern. California) is going to be a featured speaker at the annual convention of The Islamic Society of North America, July 3-6 in Washington, DC. Warren's picture currently appears on the groups website. (Click here for story.) I do wonder what sort of Purpose Driven church, er, ah, make that "mosque growth" tips Warren will share with the conference participants? Is peace at any cost worth it Rick?

Warren will be in some very dubious company in Washington. Another speaker at the conference will be Dr. Dr. Muzammil Husain Siddiqi, the Director of the Islamic Society of Orange County (California), and former Director of Islamic Affairs for the Muslim World League Office in New York.

You have probably seen Dr. Siddiqi before since he was chosen to address the world during the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance service held at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC just three days after the 9/11 attacks on Sept. 14, 2001.

As our nation mourned that day, he began with the standard Muslim greeting "May the peace of Allah be upon America." What most American's didn't know then and still don't know now is that in Islamic beliefs every person is either a member of the "house of peace" (Muslim) or a member of the "house of war" (non-Muslim). In Muslim-speak this means, "you will only be at peace when you convert to Islam - otherwise you are the enemy"

Previously, in October 2000, Dr. Siddiqi protested outside the White House. In his speech he said "The United States is directly and indirectly responsible for the plight of the Palestinian people. If you remain on the side of injustice the wrath of God will come." He then affirmed his support for the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah.

Earlier in 2001 Dr. Siddiqi also led a flag burning in Los Angeles where he spat on and cursed the American flag. This is the crowd Rick Warren is now friendly with???

Siddiqi has publically affirmed Qur'an sura 5:36 applies to any who are "mischief makers" - that is, any who attack or cause trouble against Islam. Here are the chilling words of sura 5:36 which demands swift "justice" against those who oppose Muhammad and Islam: The punishment of those Who wage war against God And His Apostle, and strive With might and main For mischief through the land Is: execution, or crucifixion, Or the cutting off of hands And feet from opposite sides, Or exile from the land. I guess Warren figures he's safe.

These few facts and so much more that I have written about previously outlines why efforts such as the ongoing dialog coming out of Yale Divinity school to establish common ground with Islam are foolhardy at best. Yale position paper signers Rick Warren, Robert Schuller, Bill Hybels, Leith Anderson, Jim Wallis, Brian McLaren, Richard Mouw and others have ignored the absolute fact that Islam and Christianity do not worship the same God. Thus any common ground they may seem to find with Muslim is based on the false and dangerous assumption that Allah and Jehovah are one in the same. I have outlined clearly in "Their god is NOT our God!"! and "I Can't Sign the Letter" .

Muslims will eternally perish without Jesus Christ. Rather than trying to see how much we have in common with them, concerned Believers might better spend their time pointing out the stark difference between Islam and Christianity - the resurrected Jesus Christ, who is calling Muslims to exchange worthless religious bondage for true peace and everlasting joy.

Let's not be so quick to oppose one who is Christ's own as we are. Rick is just following Scripture (e.g. Eph 4:15). He is speaking the truth in love. I've never heard him compromise the gospel when he speaks to God's enemies. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt & not risk opposing whom God may well have annointed.

We need to keep a very close eye on this situation. I think it's entirely conceivable that the muslims have intentionally set this up as a no-win situation. Either way this goes is bad. If Rick Warren does as we are afraid he will and compromises the Gospel, he will have advanced Islam and set back Christianity. If does what he should, it will inflame the muslims and potentially bring their jihad to a new level. As we Christians know, the muslims are already at war with the non-muslims. The secular non-muslims just haven't faced that fact, yet. Somebody really needs to sit Rick Warren down and show him the true Gospel. It also needs to be made very clear that Rick Warren does NOT speak for Christianity in America.

For a long time now people who are call themselves Christians (if they are church goers at all) have been returning home after the service to neatly place their Bibles on the shelf not to break them open again until the following Sunday. Listen, we have to be grounded enough in the Scriptures to know when we hear Truth and when we hear error. Listen, Christian, the time has come and gone when we can count on the Church to be our teacher. We have got to come to the place when we as individual christians study, memorize, and are able to give an answer to anyone who asks us for a reason of the hope that is within us. One of the best ways to do that is to hide the Word of God in our hearts, so that we can have a command of the Scriptures. God help us!

Let's pray for Rick Warren. I don't agree with everything that he says. I don't even agree with everything my Pastor says. These are men who will make mistakes. Take a look through the Scriptures for even one person, besides Jesus, who was perfect. If Christ is lifted up, He will draw all men unto Himself. If God, has given Bro. Warren, that platform, who are we to judge him. Pray - Pray - Pray that Bro. Warren will be bold and not deny the truth - don't forget he will face Jesus one day himself. campfran@hotmail.com

Rick Warren is deceived if he thinks our Lord will accept muslims who do not become Christians, and pray to a false God- Allah. Remember Deception was Christ's first warning to the terminal generation. America is living in deception economically, intellectually, and spiritually. Islam will destroy us.

Have you ever read his statements or gone to his website?? You are sadly mistaken and probably think Joel Osteen and Benny Hinn are brothers in Christ as well...do your homework before its too late for you to get it right - please!

Man's gospel

Hello: No ofense but if I had to guess I would suppose you voted for Obama. I say this because Obama had the right words, the right mannorism, the polished sound bites, the right teleprompter, and he is something different. Yet he does great harm with a smile. So it goes with Warren, you praise him for the fact that he goes to N Korea, Iran, etc,, as a so called man of God, and you completely ignore the fact that he's placid. Warren does great harm to God by preaching another gospel, the gospel of love. Friend, God is NOT love. When Johnn wote that, he was not offering a definition but stating a fact. The fact is that there is no love outside of God. Therefore to know (and preach) God is to know and preach Love. Love is not how we humans would define it or like it to be,, or else there is no judgement, rightousness, truth, or mercy. John

I had to use Warens book in a Bible class I had to get my doctorate. It was full of error . It is a true proverb that the hog will return to wallow in the mire and the dog to its on vomit. These are preachers of " another Jesus and another Gospel" Ther will never be peace brought about by compromise only truth

Rick Warren doesn't appear to be denying Christ. It's fantastic that God appears to be giving him opportunities to testify of Christ. There are so many more important things to write about than a sarcastic and critical article on a brother in Christ.
