Rev. Jesse Peterson: Black Preachers Worshiping the Wrong Messiah

Rev. Peterson: Black Preachers are Worshiping the Wrong Messiah

…There shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies…2 Peter 2:1

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 /Christian Newswire/ - With the November 4 election of Barack Obama, black preachers have been celebrating across the country. Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Founder and President of BOND Action, Inc. is rebuking these black preachers for their part in electing the most left-wing presidential candidate in American history:

"Ninety-six percent of black voters supported Barack Obama and the majority of these voters were influenced by black preachers to put race ahead of their country and their faith," said Rev. Peterson. "How can ministers who are supposed to lead their flock to Jesus Christ instead lead them to a socialist like Obama? The truth is that most black ministers don't have a real relationship with God and they are leading their congregations to hell. These blind leaders helped elect their black 'Messiah'. This 'Messiah' happens to be the most left-wing member of the U.S. Senate," said Rev. Peterson.

Here's where president-elect Obama stands on key issues:

* Believes in abortion on demand (virtually under any circumstance), and has told Planned Parenthood that sex-ed for kindergartners is 'the right thing to do' (as long as it's 'age appropriate');

* Has promised to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act and would allow homosexual 'marriages' to be made legal in all 50 states;

* Would appoint far left activist judges who'd pervert and misinterpret the U.S. Constitution;

* Has pledged to dismantle 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' in the military. Supports open homosexuality, bisexuality, and transexuality in all military branches, barracks and shower facilities.

This is what influential black ministers said after the Obama election victory:

* Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House church said that Sen. Barack Obama's campaign "encouraged, validated and gave inspiration to not only the people of the United States of America, but to the people of our world."

* At Harlem's Abyssinian Baptist Church, Rev. Calvin Butts invited his congregation to stand up "and give God praise for the election." Several hundred churchgoers rose as one and cheered, "Yes we can! Yes we can!"

* Grammy-winning gospel singer, Rev. Shirley Caesar-Williams said, "Too long we've been at the bottom of the totem pole, but he [Obama] has vindicated us, hallelujah."

* Rev. John L. Lambert, Bethel AME Church in Indianapolis, "If ever there was an answer to 'who cometh to our help?' that was the answer…Look at what God has done."

* At Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Rev. Otis Moss, III, said history would note that Trinity was the holy place where "God stirred a young man's soul and put him on the path to the presidency."

Rev. Peterson added: "For the past eighteen years I've said that most black preachers are not called by God, but instead are called by their mammas. If there was ever a time that this was the case, that time is now. In order for black Americans to turn around, they must drop their anger, and find the truth within themselves, not from corrupt, racist preachers or from a false black Messiah."

I heard you on the Sean Hannity show today. OMG you must be on the hit list of almost every black person in this country. You are one of the few people, of your race, that is in touch with reality. God Bless You and I think you are right on in your views. OH, by the way I am a white female, born and raised in Texas.

If you disagree with my heading than you need not read any further. How is "God damn America" forgiving or loving thy neighbor? Where did Peterson talk about arms and corporate interests or even bring up McCain? Are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac not corporations? Or are they GOOD corporations because they supported the guy who agrees with you? Where does Jesus tell us to kill unwanted, unplanned, etc, babies? Where does Jesus say Caesar knows who needs money the most, and must spread the wealth around as it pleases? I know He tells us to give out of love and generosity, but maybe I missed the part where Caesar must tell us where to put our assets. Apparently you look forward to government healthcare, as if Jesus said that Caesar decides who is sick and who is well, who lives and who dies. You say the US have been too rightwing for too long; tell me why Planned Parenthood thrives on our tax dollars, we've never had so many people on welfare (not to mention those bailouts - why did they go bankrupt in the first place?), public schools are now Orwellian camps where condoms are more important than literacy, our borders are dissolving and we dare not enforce law in our own country for fear of offending illegal aliens. You want democracy - as long as the majority agrees with you, right? Remember the 52% in CA voted for Prop 8, which will likely be suppressed by 1 judge, which will be no problem to you I'm sure.

Which Bible principles?

Guess what, Barrack Obama has been a example of many real Christian values. Going into public service rather than lucrative corporate work, and working with broad coalitions of people, displays a real attitude of ‘loving thy neighbor’. And apparently he is showing some forgiveness of people who opposed him and spoke out against him. Rev Peterson displays his bias, when he calls Obama the most “left wing candidate in American history”. I don’t see the major teachings of Jesus supporting “rightwing” philosophies. Christ was about having a personal relationship with God, whom he called his father, not exporting arms to other nations, and corporate philosophies which put profits above everything. In fact Christ spoke in terms that some would label as ‘socialist’. And I would challenge Rev Peterson to tell me, how the goal of having universal healthcare, is un-Christian. But part of the critique is labeling Obama a left wing person. I see him as more of a centrist. The problem is that the US has been so right wing leaning for many years, that just being for democracy, is practically a left wing view these days.

God bless, Rev. Peterson

Praise the Lord for bold ministers like Rev Peterson. I have met him a few years ago and found him to be a man of strong faith who is willing to be involved in standing up for the Lord. I am in agreement with Rev Peterson that people who voted for Obama do not have a personal relationship with the Lord because the man stands for things that are antichrist. Truth is what he speaks. Remember to those who hate the truth,the truth is hate.

Rev. Peterson did not say that democrat supporting preachers are going to hell - but rather that they are leading their congregations to hell - which he says is caused by preachers not having a real relationship with God - not because they support democrats. And the issue is not what party they voted for - it is the lack of morals and values displayed by that party. And who am I, as a white, low-income, single mother oppressing exactly? Please discover what is going on in the real world for yourself - rather than believing liberal academia that tries to make America look like a big bad bully. No one is being oppressed - exept maybe Christians.

Yet another victim of our self-defeating, self-loathing PC culture.

To the guilt-ridden caucasian who can't let go of a quickly receding past, the real oppressors of the black people since the early 1970's have been their own "leaders". The Jesse Jacksons, the Al Sharptons and the Louis Farrakans are the ones who have oppressed African Americans the most since that time because it is through instilling disaffection, denial and self pity that they have been able to maintain their power base and they know it. As a descendent of the Mennonite/Amish community, I assure you my ancestors were not slave holders and were very likely also persecuted. However, rather than playing the victim, they had faith in God and took advantage of the opportunity to find a new start here in our great country. Jesse Lee Peterson is simply trying to instill a simliar attitude and perspective among the faithful of his community.

the wheat and the tares

This election is certainly exposing the tares among the wheat. For a "believer" to support the agenda of Obama, regardless of his race, is unthinkable. I am in utter amazement that so many "christians" could be so misguided and ignorant of the bible that they can't see the difference between right and wrong; righteousness and truth. They will stand before God and give an account for their actions. It's not about a political party. It's about righteousness.

Thank You

Rev. Peterson has given me hope that all African Americans do not judge by the color of our skin, but by the issues. I would love to have voted for the first African American president, but I saw what Rev. Peterson saw. Thank you, Rev. Peterson, for not putting race above your values and beliefs.
