NOT A Constitutional Guarantee

The concept of "Separation of Church and State" is not a guarantee in the US Constitution, nor is "Freedom FROM Religion". The whole concept came from a letter written by President Jefferson, whereby he expressed disapproval of a State declairing a specific denomination as the "Official State Church" much like a State has a State bird, or flower. To which I agree. It is not the place of government to sanction a particular belief, it is the government's place to govern.
Unfortunately, with this group "Americans United for Separation of Church and State" their political agenda is as clear as moveon.org. IF they truly practiced what they preach, they would be going after Trinity United Church of Christ because of Rev. Wright's policial comments. Alas, they have not. Had this been a (pick one) Church in (pick a city & State) that mentioned McCain or an Independent candidate, this group would have threatened and intimidated them to no end.
Practice what you preach and you gain support, practice hypocracy and you gain noting but disrespect.

I liked this. However, it would be more helpful and carry more weight if you'd add WHY the marked out sections are incorrect on the part of this organization. The reasons are obvious in mind for some sections but not so for others.
I'd really like to see it reposted with this information.

A thought

What if the church in America were not a non-profit status org. could they then be politically active? As I think of the Gospels, Christ was always challenging the establishment by making them think, "Render that which is Caesars’ unto Caesar." How has the Government tied the hands of the church and its leaders and in the process nullified their ability to effect society as it has historically? The following statement is made in the article "People of faith should not rely on such agenda-driven adversarial secularist groups for advice on what they can do in relation to elections; they should instead rely on neutral and even supportive groups to help navigate these relatively simple waters.” I believe we as believers need to have leaders that will seek Gods direction for our society and inform them as to which way to go while not allowing the Government to direct the agenda of God. Shouldn't the agenda of God direct the Government of this Christian nation?
