What you call word games, I call logic. Theology is the only American discipline in which non-rational standards of thought are permitted. hj

also, if you have a non-ambiguous, clear cut, indisputable all inclusive definition of pornography that we can ban for the betterment of all, why haven't you shared it with us yet?

its not a matter of displaying them yourself or publishing them, as censorship would deal with. It's a matter of displaying them on public, taxpayer-supported, religion-neutral land and buildings. It's the same reason the eight-fold path isn't displayed in courthouses.

"Here's a surefire method to see if what you wrote is valid. Stand before Jesus Christ (More likely fall on your face before Him )and repeat everything you said in your letter." Sure thing. Where is He? I'll go do that. Thanks for the impossible challenge. "You wouldn't be able to utter one word of your letter, and what's more you know it." Objection, your honor. Speculation. "So quit pretending, even an idiot can see your purpose for being on this website. Your game is not working." I'm not playing a game here. I have had rewarding exchanges with many people on this website so far. Really really interesting and charged ones. I know this concept is foriegn to you, but I really don't see why you are obsessed what other people do with their "areas," as long as they are not doing it to you. Really. Who cares? Don't you think that an Almighty Whatchawhoosit would have better things to do than obsess over what's going on with people's tingly bits? I'm serious. A little American history (though I know you've lived through most of it). Did you know that prostitution was legal in the US until about 1910? Really. Look it up. These are not eternal verities we're talking about here. don't be confused. When the Founding Fathers founded and fathered, prostitution was LEGAL. Seriously. Anyway, that leads me to another point. Y'all aren't only talking about shiny happy religiosity here. You are also talking politics. I don't give a cinnamon twist about the religion--that is between you and your god, for all I care. I do, however, want to engage you about your political views, and by the grace of the website administrators, I have been able to do that. Honestly, I wasn't expecting them to let me do that, but they have. I have learned something about Christians, if you will. Is that so awful, I mean, even if I don't convert? hj hjhop.blogspot.com

Censorship, huh ? I guess God is the biggest Censor of all, after all He wrote the Ten Commandments. Oh yeah, that's right, we can't display them anymore. Please get a grip.

If this wasn't such a serious matter, your word games would be laughable. Talk about stretching !!!! You snapped the elastic ! Here's a surefire method to see if what you wrote is valid. Stand before Jesus Christ (More likely fall on your face before Him )and repeat everything you said in your letter. You wouldn't be able to utter one word of your letter, and what's more you know it. So quit pretending, even an idiot can see your purpose for being on this website. Your game is not working.

I want to thank Rebecca Hagelin for sharing the cleanhotels.com website. I see it as another tool to help us Christians to spend our God-given money wisely. I will be checking it for info, just as I check out CWN, WORLD Magazine, American Family Association, Breakpoint, Christian Research Institute, Movieguide, and Plugged In for info about books, movies, TV shows, and music. We Christians should support other Christians who are walking the walk. BTW, I have some more suggestions for families who have TVs and computers. Keep the computer and TV in a place easily monitored, such as a living room or family room, NEVER in children's bedrooms. Place strict time limits on TV and computer use. Within those time limits, watch TV and use the computer as a family as much as possible. My sister and her husband have those restrictions for their children, and many CWN readers do so as well. Unfortunately, too many Christian families don't.

You've hit on the point of complication: definition. Many commercials today would qualify as pornography by strict definitions. If we were to say 'the exploitation of women,' then all adult film actresses would say they were well paid enough to not feel exploited. This is the problem with any type of censorship--Its too ambiguous and can lead to oppression and hiding of ideas that should be exposed.

In today's culture, what you've just said makes perfect sense. The question of "am I my brother's keeper" would probably be answered with a resounding NO. However, and I'm just guessing, but you probably agree with Hillary Clinton that it takes a village. I'm no expert, but it takes nothing more than common sense to realize that porn is detramental to a healthy marriage. If you had knowledge that a man, or a woman for that matter, would sin, or if that language is too harsh, would lust for sex with you or a daughter or son of your's, would you honestly feel more or less inclined to remove the "art" in your bathroom.

Thank you for raising our awareness of the problem. I'm glad there are many that are trying to make a difference. I'll be checking with cleanhotels the next time I travel. Grace and peace to you in Jesus.
