Questions to Make You Think

The Battle for the Mind is recommended for anyone age 11 to 111. You can play by yourself, compete with other individuals, or choose up teams and play against other groups. You can play on your personal computer or hook your computer to a video projector and play in a large gathering.

The game is built on nearly 1,000 questions that test your knowledge of the Christian worldview and make you think about why you believe what you believe. The not-so-trivial trivia questions are divided into eight categories: law, science, economics, history, family, social issues, education, and religion. The game wheel includes all of these categories as well as the "choose your own category" option.

You can set the game to operate in any of three levels of ability: beginner, intermediate, or advanced. If you check all three options, the computer program will randomly select questions from the three levels and eight different categories. As an added bonus so you never run out of fascinating questions to keep your games lively, you will be able to purchase additional worldview questions from our website (www.worldviewweekend.com) for a nominal fee, starting in the fall of 2007.

To facilitate families including younger children in the game, any questions that deal with sex or sexuality have been placed in the advanced category. If you choose to play with young children, please select only the beginner and/or intermediate levels of play.

Here's How the Game Goes

Each question you answer correctly earns you half a point. To win The Battle for the Mind, you must answer two questions correctly for each category. Once you receive a half point for answering a question correctly, though, you can lose that half point for each question you answer incorrectly from that same category. As you get closer to winning, the questions become more difficult-unless you have chosen to play the entire game at the beginner level.

Each question is multiple choice, and some questions have more than one correct answer. If a question has more than one correct answer, you must select all of the correct answers, or you will be docked a half point for answering the question incorrectly. But don't worry, you can still learn along the way: If you answer wrong, the correct answer or answers are highlighted in red. You see, the purpose of this game is not only to have fun but to learn essential truth. So please take careful note of the correct answers!

You must also answer each question within the time allowed. A countdown clock appears on the screen, and if you don't answer within the allotted time, you will be penalized the same as if you had answered the question incorrectly.

Setting Up Your Game

Before you start to play, you will set up your players or teams. When you compete as an individual, you can be whichever cartoon character you choose. You can even pick the one that looks the most like you (if you're willing to admit that any of them do).

If you're playing on teams, choose from the list of team names provided, and use the custom team flags. If you misspell your name or the name of your team when setting up, you can correct the misspelling by choosing the "edit" option. Once the various individual players' names have been entered or team names have been chosen, you're ready to start your battle for the mind.

If you have only limited time for a game session and can't play until you have a winner, you can choose to save the game and come back later to finish the battle. If you have any questions or difficulty with this game please e-mail us at worldviewgame@worldviewweekend.com.

Thanks for playing The Battle for the Mind. Since learning is main fun of the game, whether you win or lose, you win!
