Revealing the Truth About Islam (Program #110)

Tepid Worship (Part 1)
Tune in to hear Pastor Mike's recent sermon titled "Tepid Worship (Part 1)."

Jimmy DeYoung and Dave James have their weekly conversation today on PTIB. This time Jimmy and Dave will discuss a State Law in Iowa that is restricting the churches in that State, causing them to break the Law of the Word of God, as it relates to the Standards that the Church sets for its daily operation. There is a fear that these laws could spread to all fifty states, destroying the Religious Freedom that the Church has today. This is an important issue for the Church and your own Church leadership should hear this discussion.

Host Wayne Shepherd leads us into the beginning of a two-part overview of the faithfulness of God in the life, family and ministry of Dr. John Whitcomb—our speaker on “Encounter God’s Truth”—over the past 75 years.

This very personal account reminds us clearly of our theme on this program—that God’s Word is true from the beginning to the end. This fact has certainly been evident in Dr. Whitcomb’s life.

His testimony includes details about his parents, childhood, conversion to Christ, military service in World War II, call to the ministry and seminary training. We trust that you will find it to be encouraging and motivating.

This presentation was given in June of 2016 before the 96th annual meeting of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship International, which was held at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Whitcomb Ministries thanks both organizations for permission to broadcast this audio on “Encounter God’s Truth.”

What is driving the conflicts we’ve seen in the past few weeks in France, Germany, Baton Rouge and Orlando?  In this week’s boralogue, John examines common threads through these tragedies and shows that in order to solve the problem, we need to stop listening to politically correct elites and focus on the truth: we have a morality problem and a collision of worldviews.

Is the narrative from Black Lives Matter accurate?  Heather MacDonald (, Fellow at the Manhattan Institute reveals statistics which challenge the account that white police officers are the most dangerous threat to black men today.  In fact, African-Americans are much more likely to die from violence in their own communities than in officer-related shootings.

John plays a clip of Dave McAlvany and Kevin Orrick ( from the McAlvany Weekly Commentary where they discuss the possibility that the failed coup in Turkey was orchestrated by President Erdogan to gain a more powerful hold on the country.

Is it a surprise that the EU is floundering under its own weight on a flimsy foundation?  Wallace Henley (, Senior Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Houston, TX discusses how Christianity was purposefully left out of the EU’s formation and how institutions that cater to political correctness are drowning out the Christian worldview today.

Finally this week, we welcome back Bill Forstchen (, History Professor at Montreat College, who analyzes not only the suppression of freedom of speech and thought on undergraduate and college campuses, but also the dangers of ISIS and our unpreparedness as a country to handle their terror campaign.

John’s quote of the week:

“The violence and the murders that you are seeing must be dealt with at the morality and worldview levels, but those are the very areas where the politically correct crowd will not allow us to go.”

As always, join us online for our Section 6 intelligence briefing featuring analysis by John on important stories highlighting emerging geopolitical trends around the world.

Was American Slavery Biblical? I Timothy 1:1-10

With election talk seemingly everywhere there's debate once again over how we vote for the president. Should it be via the electoral system as outlined in our Constitution or should it be changed to a national popular vote?

Jim looked at this issue with Hans von Spakovsky who is a legal senior fellow in the Heritage Foundation's Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. He is an authority on a number of issues including that of voter fraud and voter ID, enforcement of federal voting rights laws, administration of elections and voting equipment standards and protecting the integrity of elections. Before joining Heritage in 2008, he served two years as a member of the Federal Election Commission, the authority charged with enforcing campaign finance laws for congressional and presidential elections. He has also formerly worked at the Justice Department.

Article 2 section 1 of the Constitution deals with the election process for president of the U.S. This is accomplished through the electoral college. In this system, each state gets a certain number of electoral college votes. So when you enter the voting booth, you are actually voting for the electoral college delegate who will then vote for the president.

Hans explained that the reason for implementation of the electoral college system is due to the fact that the founders were concerned with making sure that rural, less populated areas of our nation would not be neglected. They assumed that if we had a national popular vote, candidates would only have to go to big cities and urban areas and they could ignore the rest of the nation in order to secure election to office.

Under our electoral college system, each state gets the number of votes equal to the number of senators and congressmen they have. This means that even the smallest states have at least 3 electoral college votes. It's true that candidates won't spend as much time in those states but at least they won't be totally neglected, which they would, under a national popular vote system.

John Koza, creator of the scratch-off lottery ticket, has been instrumental in the push for the national popular vote idea. This idea is a state compact or agreement between the states. 11 have already passed it. Once enough states have passed it that represent 270 electoral college votes, the compact then goes into force and each state that passed it agrees that the electoral college votes in their state will be awarded not based upon the vote in their state but instead upon the national popular vote.

Chris discusses the issue of President Barack Obama's faith, which has recently been directly challenged during the Republican National Convention. While Obama has repeatedly claimed to be a Christian, are his statements consistent with a true Christian profession? A comparison of quotes concerning what the President has said about Islam vs. what he has said about Christianity is analyzed.

Series: With the Master is Fullness of Joy

Lesson: 15

Title: Rejoice and Beware!

Passage: Philippians 3:1-3

Description: As we begin chapter three of our study, Paul turns from writing on humility, unity, death to self, and relationships, to a warning to the church at Philippi regarding religious fakes and false teachers. We too should take heed to this warning as false teachers have grown to alarming numbers in our day! We will consider Paul’s warning against false teachers along with Paul’s reminder of true believers.

Do Not Hinder Them, part 1

We begin a new series today. I have just completed writing a book on when it is appropriate to baptize children. Most evangelical churches baptize children upon making intellectual assent to basic facts of the Gospel. But is this wise? This is an issue that is woefully misunderstood and is surrounded much more with tradition than sound doctrine. There are many different doctrinal, theological, and ecclesiastical issues that come together in this one question: When should I baptize my child? Please join me for this series. It is one about which I am very passionate. There is much that the Bible has to say about this. There need not be so much confusion. Tell your friends to tune in. I'm not sure how long this series will last but it is one I've wanted to do for a long time. I know there is much emotion surrounding this issue but we will let the sufficient word of God be our guide. This series may upset your theological applecart a bit. I can assure you that my theological applecart was upset by the Truth of God's word on this issue several years ago. So, where I may be about to lead you I have already been led. I trust that by the end of this series, it will be of great encouragement to you and give you some helpful guidelines in bringing your child to Christ and knowing when to baptize him or her.

In today’s program, we bring back a classic from our Search the Scriptures archives with the late founder of The Berean Call, Dave Hunt, and T.A. McMahon, With Part 1 of their radio discussion of Dave’s book Judgment Day: Is There a War between Allah and Yahweh?” first broadcast in 2006.

The devil takes aim at any believer who takes the gospel to another person. Only by having the peace of God can a believer handle the attacks of Satan, both subtle and overt. We must learn more from Paul’s teaching about the armor of God.
