Deadly Temptations (Part 2)

Listen in to this recent sermon that Pastor Mike preached at Bethlehem Bible Church in West Boylston, MA.  In this sermon Pastor Mike continues to talk about deadly temptations being sold by the world. We need to should guard ourselves and run away from these temptations.

When we speak a word of witness for Christ, we can know that some are ready to believe. That’s because the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of those the Father is drawing to Himself.

This Crosstalk looked at some important issues as it relates to future events and how that applies to us today.

Joining Jim in discussion of this issue was Gary Frazier. Gary is the founder and president of Discovery Missions. He is a respected speaker and writer on the subject of Bible prophecy. He's the author of numerous books, one on Israel that Crosstalk looked at previously. He joined Jim to discuss, 'It Could Happen Tomorrow: Future Events that will Shake the World'.

Gary believes that we are the terminal generation and that we are living in the last days. If we are, we should see the stage being set by God to prepare the world for what the Bible says is coming and if we're paying attention, we should see that very thing.

Gary's book is one of hope but also a warning. It's a warning because we're living in a time that appears to be similar in the moral/spiritual sense to what it was like in the days of Noah. Gary did note one exception. He feels we've surpassed the depravity of Noah's time.

He communicated that his book is also a word of encouragement because as Christians we're commanded to be looking for the return of Jesus (Matthew 24:42). If we're aware of what God is up to it should create a great sense of joy in our hearts knowing that Jesus is returning soon.

Gary's book discusses 9 future events which include: The great disappearing; America in prophecy; The birth of the new world order; The Islamic invasion of Israel; The coming of Antichrist; Global religion; The Temple; The Mark of the Beast and the glorious return.

As the program moves along, Gary addresses the following:

--Since it's taken so long and so many date-setters have failed, is a theology of

the future return of Christ wrong?

--How a future return of Christ mimics Jewish marriage tradition in the first

century.

--How is the glorious appearing different from the rapture?

--Where does the United States fit into Bible prophecy?

--How can Christ come when there are so many people that need to hear of him?

--Will Catholics have to go through the tribulation?

Rich Young Ruler, part 11

We continue our discussion regarding salvation and sanctification. Most professing believers assert that these are two separate entities and the latter, sanctification, is even optional. We will see that such a notion is foreign to the Scriptures. Sanctification is an integral part of the new birth and happens to all who are believers.

Today on PTIB Jimmy DeYoung will talk with Bob Maginnis at the Pentagon in Washington, who will give us an up-date on geo-political events around this world that seem to be setting the stage for the scenario for the last days that is found in Bible Prophecy. Jimmy and Bob will discuss Bob's new book, "Future War"; the UNGA focus on Israel; why that UNGA focus should have been on Iran and Islamic State; Russia getting ready to send their only aircraft carrier to the coast of Syria; Obama's North Korean policy that is failing; and Russia and China holding naval military exercises in the South China Sea.

Don Green Interview

Don offers the lastest, “What is in Pastor Don’s craw?” Don is a Pastor at http://www.truthcommunitychurch.org

Dr. Andy Woods is the senior pastor of Sugar Land Bible Church and a full professor at the College of Biblical Studies in Houston where he teaches Bible and theology. Andy has contributed to many theological journals and Christian books and speaks on a variety of topics at Christian conferences. He is the author of 'The Middle East Meltdown: The Coming Islamic Invasion of Israel'.

'The Middle East Meltdown' gives much attention to Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. Dr. Woods described how Ezekiel has 3 parts to it. Chapters 1-24 are about condemnation against Judah which was in captivity at the time Ezekiel had his prophecies. Chapters 25-32 are about condemnation of the surrounding nations that come against Israel. Chapters 33-48 (after Jerusalem had finally fallen under Nebuchadnezzar) are prophecies of hope and restoration. This is the section that mentions the nations that will come against Israel. However, even when Israel doesn't have a friend in the world, God intervenes to protect his chosen people and through them establish his long awaited covenant and kingdom programs.

What can we take away from Christ's return? Dr. Woods believes that God is not going to 'switch horses in mid-stream'. In other words, if God fulfilled his word with exact precision using an exact timetable related to the first advent, why wouldn't he do that in regard to Christ's second advent? In fact, Dr. Woods noted that when you study the 70 weeks prophecy, Jesus came into Jerusalem right on time. Although he's not a date setter, Dr. Woods feels that in God's timetable, everything will happen according to His exact timing.

Who are the major players in this end time drama? Dr. Woods indicated that when you borrow from ancient sources such as Josephus, Herodotus and others, what you discover is that a lot of the names that Ezekiel mentions are in the table of nations going back to Genesis 10. Genesis 10 is a record of where Noah's descendants settled and you'll find most of those names there. So using scholarly sources we can see where these people groups were existing in the time of Ezekiel and he believes the modern nations containing these names will be some of the key players in the end-times drama. For example, Put is Libya, Cush is the Sudan, Persia is Iran, Magog is Central Asia, Rosh is Russia and Meshek, Tubal, Gomer and Togarmah relate to Turkey.

Psalm 83 even talks about a war. Is this the same war as that mentioned in Ezekiel 38? Psalm 83 is a psalm of Asaph that mentions nations closer to the boundary of Israel than those of Ezekiel 38. Some have speculated there will be a Psalm 83 war and that's a war that will increase Israel's territory leading to peace and prosperity in Israel. That, in turn, sets the stage for the Ezekiel 38-39 war.

Dr. Woods is of the opinion that Psalm 83 is actually not a prophecy at all but rather an imprecatory prayer where the psalmist is calling judgment down on Israel's perennial enemies. If it is a war, he sees it happening concurrently with Ezekiel 38 and 39 and not something that's different.

This covers the 'who' aspect of end-time events described in Ezekiel. Review this edition of Crosstalk and you'll hear Dr. Woods complete the picture as best we can at this point in history as he discusses the 'why' and 'how' aspects, the Obama/Iran connection and much more.

Rich Young Ruler, part 10

We continue our discussion today regarding Lordship salvation. Is, as most evangelicals assert, sanctification a separate event from regeneration? Can people receive Jesus as Savior but not as Lord? We will discuss 3 New Testament passages that emphatically teach that this is not possible.

CODEX SINAITICUS REVISITED
Chris reviews some of the important details surrounding the Codex Sinaiticus in light of new research being done by others who have been investigating the controversy -- in particular, author David Daniels.  Many Christians today are
unaware of the great importance of the Sinai manuscript in the history of the Bible, and how so many modern theories about the text of the New Testament are derived from its pages, along with those of the Codex Vaticanus.  If (as a
growing number of researchers have come to believe) the codex proves to be a nineteenth century creation, rather than an ancient work, it would undoubtedly turn the world of modern textual criticism upside down.
