Part One: The connection between the rise of antisemitism in America and the American Jews that helped form the Israeli Air Force. Many of the American Jews that came home from World War II as fighter pilots had as children been literally beat up and persecuted because they were Jewish. Brannon explains that such Jewish hatred was largely due to the national radio program and newspaper of a Catholic Priest by the name of Father Charles Coughlin. This antisemitism is why so many of the Jewish pilots returning home to America after World War II were tired of seeing the Jews kicked around and thus it led them to volunteer and to risk jail time, losing their U.S. citizenship, and most importantly their lives, to fight for the Jews working to establish a Jewish nation state.
