On Friday March 3, 2017 the movie the Shack will be in over 3,000 theaters in America. Brannon gives great details as to the heresies promoted in the book upon which the movie is based. Such heresies include universalism, pluralism, and denying the incarnation of Christ. In addition God and the Holy Spirit are depicted as females. Despite all these problems Brannon reads an article from a figure within the religious right encouraging people to see the film and declaring that: “God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are venerated and celebrated in the most creative and out-of- the-box way in a new movie being released nationwide in 3,000 theaters this coming Friday, March 3rd.” He goes on to say: “I've seen The Shack twice now, both times having the privilege of spending time with spiritual leaders as they asked important questions of the movie's producers. I have heard their heart and I am confident in the theological soundness of the movie.” Brannon goes on to explain why he believes this is an example of the lack of Biblical discernment of most of the religious right and why they have no chance at reclaiming the culture much less defending the gospel when they apparently cannot even understand when the gospel is under assault. Brannon explains why Christians that are committed to biblical truth should not see this film or encourage others to see The Shack movie.
