Donald Trump’s acceptance speech proved that his vision, not Ted Cruz’s, is the future of the conservative movement and the Republican Party. Trump hit the right notes in his talk in putting America first, while Cruz’s presentation to the convention the night before was thin on conservative substance. Cruz did not disqualify himself from being a future standard-bearer merely by failing to endorse Trump, but also by failing to embrace the conservative policies that are necessary to make America great again. It was Trump, not Cruz, who succeeded in fulfilling Ronald Reagan’s goal of “raising a...

One of the saddest statements I heard in college was during a job interview. The owner, a Christian himself said, “I usually don’t hire Christians, they have been some of the worst workers over the years”. Hopefully as I worked for him I didn’t encourage that sentiment. Of course this isn’t universal. I have also worked for bosses who loved hiring Christians and were very thankful for the hard work they received. As believers we know that our calling is higher. We do work for men, but ultimately it is God whom we serve. As we work hard we are ultimately declaring our belief in the Gospel, and...

Before I travel to a new country I investigate if there are any peculiar laws I need to observe. Luckily I have never had to verify any of these for myself – but they are on the internet so they must be true, right? In Thailand it is illegal to leave your house without wearing any underwear. In Israel it is illegal to bring bears to the beach. Ireland has prohibited its citizens from pretending to perform any type of witchcraft, enchantment, or occultic practices. It’s not against the law to actually perform them, just to pretend to perform them. In Canada you may not pay for an item that...

Andrew Rosenthal of The New York Times examines the question of who hacked the Democratic National Committee and whether the trail leads to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We know from reliable reporting that Russian hackers are not independent actors, and that they have been busy,” he writes [1]. “And it’s eerie, at best, that Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks chose this moment to release the stolen emails (and complete a strange triangle that runs from him to Putin to Edward Snowden).” For his part, on his Twitter page [2], Snowden said, “If Russia hacked the #DNC, they should be condemned for...

Carol Swain, a professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University, is one of the stars of Dinesh D’Souza’s new movie, “Hillary’s America [1],” which examined in detail the historical racism of the Democratic Party. It’s a story that hasn’t been told by reporters from the liberal media who keep repeating the mantra that Democrats represent minorities, the poor, the downtrodden and the vulnerable. The movie highlights the fact that Democratic President Woodrow Wilson attended a screening of the pro-KKK film, “The Birth of a Nation,” in the White House itself. If you don’t want to...
