Rewarding Not-So-Bad-Terrorists<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

This week President Bush announced an upcoming international meeting of representatives from nations that support a two-state solution between the Israelis and Palestinians, which reject violence, recognize <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Israel's right to exist, and commit to all previous agreements between the parties.  Many of those "nations" are in the Middle East and consider Israel's very existence to be an outrage, or as they call it, a "catastrophe."

I have thus concluded that most of the world, including our White House and State Department, has come up with a subtle idea that there are evil terrorists and then not-so-bad-terrorists.

Let me be as clear as I can. Mahmoud Abbas is Yaser Arafat's successor, and Abbas is the not-so-bad-terrorist. Arafat promised peace and delivered war. Abbas has promised peace since he took over but instead formed a coalition with the ultra-militant Hamas.  Both Hamas and Abbas' Fatah have always declared that it was the fundamental duty of every Palestinian to work toward the destruction of Israel.  But we can do business with Abbas because he is not so bad?

Really? Keep in mind that Abbas financed the 1972 slaughter of Israeli athletes at Munich. He also wrote his PhD thesis on the myth of the Holocaust, even though he's supportive of another one.  So he's really just another evil terrorist, yet hardly anyone but someone as outspoken as I will say that!

Nonetheless, the president announced a pledge of $190 million in direct American aid (tax dollars) and $80 million in military assistance (also out of your pockets).  Additionally, your next tax refund will be lower due to an additional $228 million more American aid in business assistance to bolster Abbas.

Of the billions of dollars the Palestinians have gotten from many sources, precious little goes to their people. The money disappears into secret bank accounts, or it is used to buy weapons to turn on Israel. What has changed in the last few weeks and months to reward the not-so-bad-terrorists?  Apparently Abbas' break from Hamas is sufficient evidence that he has reformed, renounced all charters calling for Israel's destruction, and stopped all child propaganda to twist the minds of young Palestinians urging them to jihad.

Then why has another TV program come out showing just the opposite?  You may say that this is a Hamas film, the really bad terror group, not Abbas, the not-so-bad terror group.  The two have not broken in sentiment, charters, goals, beliefs, and plans to destroy the Jewish state.  So view the two minute clip at my "Palestine" category at the Web site here http://www.olivetreeviews.org/topics/palestine.shtml  The article is titled "Why There Will Be No Peace" (until the Prince of Peace returns) and is the first posting.

As Gary Bauer says in his End of Day Report, "What they want (the Arabs and Muslims of the Middle East) is an Islamic caliphate that will include Gaza, the West Bank, every square inch of the nation of Israel, and, frankly, most of the Middle East. They are not interested in peace with Israel or even a 'piece' of Israel. They want it all." Deals made with any Arab state are consistently broken.

I always recommend concerted prayer for the president and his staff. A good way to do that is the Presidential Prayer Team, www.presidentialprayerteam.org.

Again, up until the 6th anniversary of 9/11, I direct you to our 9/11 memorial here: http://www.olivetreeviews.org/topics/terrorism_us.shtml
May we never forget and may we never stop thanking Him for the protection we have had since that ignominious day.
