The Response to Terror and Radical Islam: Trying to Make Sense of the Senseless<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
By Jan Markell

I have said before that we are in an upside down world: Black is white, up is down, down is up, right is wrong, wrong is right (Isaiah 5:20), and all talk in politically-correct doublespeak.  Thankfully some truth-tellers remain out there, but their numbers are dwindling as they cave to what they think is expedient and even sound reasoning.  This is the age of strong delusion (II Thess. 2).

Here are a few examples, most coming out of the recent G8 meetings in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Scotland:

·        Tony Blair emerged after the summit to say the world's greatest dilemma is the Israeli-Palestinian situation and that the G8 would pour $3 billion into the region, most of which will be stolen by PA leadership.  That is the history.  What has changed?  The delusion is that everything has changed with the passing of Arafat, when the only difference is the $2,000 suits worn by the new Palestinian leadership.

·        The gathering of world leaders had spent several days discussing the questionable problem of "global warming" and aid to Africa with expert on all such things, Bono.  Did they make any profound statement about the global threat of Islamofascism?  I heard none with any passion or intensity.  So what Blair was really saying in his post-summit communication was that the world's problem was really NOT Islamofascism but a territory fight between Israelis and Palestinians when, in fact, this controversy did not exist before the "Six Day War" of 1967 when Israel seized the disputed territory for defensive purposes.  Why wasn't the conclusion of the meeting the announcement by all eight leaders that all-out war was declared on the jihadists of the world and they had better run for their lives?

·        Was there a strong-and I mean strong-G8 statement about never caving in to terrorism? Perhaps they haven't figured out that appeasing terror is going on daily and that it feeds and fuels the cause of the terrorists.  They carry on because they know it pays off eventually.  Did the G8 talk about monitoring mosques, or better yet, shutting many down?  Until the mullahs in the mosques tell their followers that they go to hell and not Heaven when blowing up innocent infidels, nothing will change.  Thus the Western world needs to become proactive in all mosques in the Western world.  But that isn't happening and likely won't.  CAIR and other Islamic groups, as well as outfits like the ACLU, would see that it would never happen.

·        Condoleeza Rice made a statement right after the G8 summit that there is no other way to deal with terror than through strength.  That sounds good and she is right.  She states, "Our goal is to replace the ideology of hopelessness and hatred in the Middle East with freedom and liberty, which when people are living in freedom and liberty, they don't want to send their children off to be suicide bombers."  Surely she knows that the Muslim world praises these martyrs, names streets and cities after them, encourages children from age three to dream of this, and blitzes Arab media with the glories that await the "shahids" or suicide bombers.

·        Britain has been resting all-too comfortably in a so-called "covenant of security" with their Muslim population, deceived that for a decade it has been a breeding ground for hate, harboring some of the most violent Muslims.  The Islamic community made a phony pledge to the U.K. that as long as the U.K. Muslim population could be treated well, there would be no problems from them.  Talk about strong delusion run amok!  Counterterrorism officials now acknowledge that there are at least 15,000 active supporters of al-Qaida in the U.K.  It sounds like the warnings in the book of Jeremiah where there is the cry of "peace, peace, but there is no peace."

These are just a few illustrations that illustrate how the world is not thinking straight today.  It majors in minors, is easily seduced, has misplaced priorities, and unbelievably bad judgment.  It won't deal in absolutes because most leaders, though certainly not all, worship the god of secular humanism where there are no absolutes and some will even say there is no such thing as evil as what evil men do is right in their own eyes.

Thankfully there is a remnant of leaders and "ordinary citizens" that see things through proper lenses and not rose-colored glasses.  May their numbers increase!
