A "Gay" Future for U.S. Conservatives?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

As CNN prepared to celebrate "gay pride" on June 24 by airing its propagandistic pro-homosexual special program, "Gary and Tony Have a Baby," several high-profile conservatives, including two Fox News personalities, have embraced the gay rights cause.

While it is not surprising that CNN would act as a mouthpiece of the gay rights movement, the emergence of anti-tax activist Grover Norquist and Fox News contributors Tucker Carlson and Margaret Hoover in the campaign to normalize homosexual behavior has attracted some media attention.

It appears they are in the vanguard of a well-funded effort to divide the conservative movement and dump Christian conservatives as a key constituency for the GOP.

Demonstrating where this ominous trend may lead, the British Conservative Party, which now rules Britain in conjunction with the far-left Liberal Democrats, has not only embraced the gay rights agenda but has just announced that convictions for homosexuals who had sex with men and boys then under the age of consent will be erased from criminal records. In Britain, the age of consent has been steadily lowered from 21 to 18 and now to 16.

Norquist, the head of Americans for Tax Reform, has been butting heads with conservatives for years on the matter of global Islam's aggressive designs on the West, leading some to think he has very close ties to Islamists. It was a surprise, therefore, that he would also publicly signal his surrender in the war to save Western culture and its Judeo-Christian values.

Norquist has joined Hoover on the advisory council of GOProud, a so-called "gay conservative" group whose chairman, Christopher R. Barron, has a history of working for "centrist Republicans."

Hoover says on her Facebook page that she is "psyched" to join the group with Norquist and has denied that she is a RINO (Republican in name only).

For his part, Carlson is the scheduled dinner speaker at a September meeting of the Log Cabin Republicans, a group of militant homosexuals who have gone so far as to file suit against the Pentagon's policy of excluding open and active homosexuals from military service.

Although Carlson has been frequently described as a conservative, he is a fellow at the libertarian Cato Institute, which is not only pro-gay but pro-marijuana and promotes a U.S. foreign policy of withdrawal from much of the world. He edits The Daily Caller, a conservative website.

Carlson and Hoover are Fox News Channel (FNC) contributors, with the opportunity to spread their version of conservatism to an audience of mostly conservatives.

Hoover has appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor" FNC program to promote President Obama's proposed repeal of the Pentagon's homosexual exclusion policy and has written an article for the FOXNews.com website expressing her belief that there is a right to gay marriage in the U.S. Constitution.

She sits on the board of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, an organization supported by Hollywood liberals that is committed to gay marriage and the "gay rights struggle."

Tammy Bruce, another Fox News Channel political contributor, is the openly gay chair of the GOProud advisory council and promotes the Independent Gay Forum, a network of so-called gay conservatives and libertarians.

Conservatism, however, has always had a moral and social component that emphasized the importance of the Judeo-Christian foundations of the nation. In practice, this has meant opposition to abortion and gay rights and support for the traditional family.

GOProud is the same group whose inclusion in the Conservative Political Action Conference by David Keene of the American Conservative Union outraged many conservatives who hold a philosophy of limited government and support for traditional values.

Conservative involvement in the gay rights movement is shocking, in view of the fact that it was founded in the U.S. by Communist Harry Hay and has usually been traditionally associated with liberal and left-wing organizations, as well as the national Democratic Party. Hay, a self-described "Radical Fairy," promoted pedophilia and participated in meetings of the North American Man-Boy Love Association.

Although Norquist, Hoover and Carlson will surely claim they will never go that far in their support for gay rights, recent events in Britain are alarming in this regard. The British "Government Equalities Office" issued a 4-page document (PDF) announcing that criminal convictions for sex with men and boys then under the age of consent will be erased, while a "government action plan" on "transgender equality" will be published next year. The term "transgender" refers to people who like to act and/or dress as members of the opposite sex and/or get sex change operations.

Prime Minister David Cameron, the leader of the Conservative Party, hosted a "Gay Pride" reception at Number 10 Downing Street, his official residence.

All of this was predictable, of course. In a column published before the British elections, we noted that the British Conservative Party had abandoned support for traditional moral values in order to pander to the militant gay community and other left-wing constituencies.

Despite the British electorate being tired of the ruling Labor Party, the conservatives in Britain failed to win an outright majority of the vote and now have to rule in a coalition with the far-left Liberal Democrats.

In another demonstration of the power of the gay movement in Britain, a Christian preacher was arrested in April for expressing "homophobic" views. Police officers told the preacher, Dan Mcalpine, that he was not allowed to preach that homosexuality was "a sin." He was taken into custody and fingerprinted.

In the highly controversial matter of eliminating criminal convictions for homosexual conduct, the British Telegraph newspaper reports that the new policy was officially announced by Theresa May, the home secretary in the new British government and a member of the British Conservative Party, who also said the government would "start work to allow same-sex couples to register their relationships in a religious setting."

The British group, Christian Concern for Our Nation, says that the government "has endorsed the aggressive agenda, set by the previous Government, to promote a radically pro-homosexual ideology across British society and overseas." It takes particular issue with the use of tax dollars to promote the homosexual agenda, especially at a time of economic hardship and budget cuts in other areas.

In the U.S., in climbing aboard the gay rights bandwagon, Norquist, Carlson and Hoover are following the lead of George Will, the conservative columnist who recently denounced opponents of gays in the military as ignorant and unintelligent.

Interestingly, one of the announced Log Cabin dinner invitees at the Carlson speech is Nick Herbert of the British Conservative Party, who spoke to the Cato Institute in February and said he looked forward to the day when "the Prime Minister of the UK or the President of the United States could just as easily be gay as black." Cato has received funding from the George Soros-funded Open Society Institute.

In this context, it is interesting to note that the advisory board of the American Foundation for Equal Rights includes Robert Levy of the Cato Institute and John Podesta of the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress as co-chairs. Together, they wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post insisting that the U.S. Constitution affirms and protects "marriage rights" for homosexuals.

In fact, America's founders regarded homosexuality as a crime against nature and it was prohibited in the states and the military.
